# 1.2 Power up the machine

Our course machine is a clean installation of 64-bit Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. It is a lightweight version of the original Ubuntu.&#x20;

The settings of the VM:

* OS: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (64-bit)
* CPU: 2
* Memory: 2 GB
* Disk: 25 GB
* GCC: 9.4.0

Then you can power your VM by clicking the black screen.
